The Soak Stain Paintings

 

This selection of paintings are created using a "soak-stain" technique in which the raw canvas is stained with watery layers of paint. The technique was made popular by the late great Joan Mitchell, whom I am endlessly inspired by. The following paintings are personalized with China Ink. I use natural inks that I pften make by myself and natural earth pigments in an effort to reduce my environmental footstep.
